Pearly Grey Blog
Heather has been in the entertainment business for 15 years now. Starting off as children´s entertainer for Haven Holidays, she worked her way up to family host and compere. She then worked as entertainment manager for a large resort, where she coordinated two bands and nine staff. Heather, wanting to further her career, ventured abroad 9 years ago and worked as an entertainment manager for 5 years in a hotel here in Tenerife . She has also worked the circuit as compere for many bars and venues on the island. Then an opportunity came in October to join the Pearly Grey team, and the rest is history!
Heather has also appeared on TV in a six-week documentary on Channel 4 Series and has also had a go at radio presenting.

This week we decided to drag Heather, our evening compare, out of bed to do some daytime entertaining with Tracey. From the looks of these photos, she´s just as big of a hit with the kids as she is with the adults!

For those of you who have not yet met Heather, she has been working with us since October, and she already has lots of fans among our owners!

Hi folks, what a busy month I have had! Firstly, I got married on the beautiful, sunny day of the 10th. I will be writing a diary about the wedding and be posting it on here early January. I am having some technical problems getting all the photographs onto the website. Dennis, our I.T. manager, is back from his holidays soon and he will be able to fix the problem.

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Here at good ole Pearly Grey, the sales team did their very own “Panto” on Christmas Eve! The guys really put a lot of time into rehearsals. I was cast as Barron Hardup, (I wonder why?), and Kevin, along with the spectacular Heather, played the ugly sisters. Donna played the excitable Buttons, and Linda played Fairy Liquid. Karin was cast as Prince Charming and, low and behold, Disco Stu played the beautiful Cinderella!

I, unfortunately, could never get to rehearsal so on the night I still did not know my lines, and was told just to ad-lib. One thing you never let happen is to give me a microphone after the few bottles of Vino we had guzzled with the amazing food the restaurant had treated us to! They could not get me off the stage; I thought it was the welcome meeting!

All the gang did a fantastic job, especially our Compare, Heather, who is really starting to come into her own. I could not stop laughing at the outfits we all wore. Kevin had to be the funniest, as one of the ugly sisters. It was an absolutely unforgettable evening.

So folks, I will try to put some photos onto this entry.

Don’t forget to look out for the wedding diary in early January. It was an amazing, gorgeous day. My wife looked spectacular.
One last thing, if you read this, please leave a message directly below, this only takes a couple of seconds and it means the world to me.
Take great care of yourselves and have a fantastic prosperous New Year. Come and see us soon, and catch some beautiful winter sunshine, world class entertainment, amazing food, not forgetting the planet´s best sunsets. What more do you need?
Kindest regards,
Dougie
The atmosphere was absolutely electric at the Pearly Grey bar during the Rugby World Cup last weekend, even though the English supporters far outnumbered the few South Africans that were present, emotions were running high!
Kevin our PG sales rep. (an Englishman of course) had made a bet with Ryszard, the General Manager, that if South Africa won the title he would wear the Springbok shirt with pride for the rest of the day around the bar and pool deck. The reverse was also true, that if England won the day then Ryszard would have to wear the England shirt…..but as we now know, despite a titanic struggle, unfortunately that was not to be and South Africa took the honours!!
Kevin, as a proud Englishman, was obviously very embarrassed walking around in the Springbok shirt…..indeed several of our loyal English guests threatened to throw him into the pool as well as various other dastardly punishments, for daring to wear the SA shirt …. He eventually decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and gave the pool a wide berth, just in case! It was a tough time out there for him, which became apparent when he eventually returned the Springbok shirt to Ryszard, as the shirt was a little sweaty- perhaps more due to pressure of the occasion than from the heat from the Tenerife sun!!
All we can say is, congratulations to the South African team,
Photo 1 - this was a tough and depressing moment

It will soon be time to get dressed up in your scariest costume, dust off that broomstick and head off to Pearly Grey to join in all the fun at our Halloween Night party. This year we will be holding two parties, the first on Wednesday 24th and the second on Wednesday 31st October. These promise to be very special evenings, so make sure you have packed a suitably spooky outfit to wear! There are prizes to be won for the best costumes.
The bar area will also be suitably decorated and the bar and restaurant staff will enter into the spirit (sorry!) of things and dress as ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night…..very scary!
Our hostess, the bootilicious Heather has lots of fun and games organized on a Halloween theme, there will be blood-curdling cocktails to sample and special prizes to be won. Each evening promises to be an out-of-this-world experience, so whatever you do -don’t miss out!!
