    Contracts & Fly buys, Rentals & Internal Exchanges - Trina Taylor
    Trina is an owner and you might recognize her from the sales team. She now has joined the admin department.


    New receptionist - Maria del Mar
    Mar joined us recently as receptionist. Originally from Madrid, she has decided to experience the better quality of life and weather in Tenerife.

    As per the attached photos you will notice as part of the fire and safety plan requirements we had to raise the wall. Unfortunately we had to remove some palm trees that were infected by an Asian beetle plague (you will notice along the coastline many palm trees has suffered due to this). Therefore we cannot plant more palm trees in these flowerbeds. We are sourcing specific plants and flowers that can resist the harsh climate.

    The road passing by the resort and going down towards the beach area and the main road has been tarred.

    2007 has flown past very quickly and so much has happened here at Pearly Grey. On the 10th of December many owners and staff were privileged to be present at Dougie and Ana Maria´s wedding. It was wonderful. The venue was obviously at PG and the reception was brilliant. They both looked amazing (soon photos will follow). Dougie will definitely update you more in detail on this event in Dougie´s Diary soon after he returns next week.

    We celebrated our staff Christmas party on the 4th of December. There we nominated the Employee of the Year, and the winner was Siona, from housekeeping. Her prize was 500€. By the way she is Nati, the Housekeeper´s mother, and has been with us for 22 years! 2nd runner up was Stuart from the bar. He is contesting it for next year of course. Also the room maid couple of the year was chosen, and again it was Siona with Maria. They won a trip to a resort in Europe, fully paid for.

    Watch out for our special half board prices and special evenings in Razzmatazz restaurant. The food is absolutely excellent and great value for money, especially for those with £ to spend.

    We are pleased to announce that once again we have achieved RCI Silver Crown status. Next year, we´re going for Gold!

    Finally our fire and safety plan has now come to an end. A final inspection will take place later this month and this means we are now fully equipped in all areas. You will notice in all the apartments there are fire evacuation plans.

    For those of you that own on the sea front, for years now you have encountered the endless vibrations of the water smashing against the rocks in the cave beneath you. This should now be much quieter! What we have done is to drill four holes of 14m each in the cave, which forces the water to enter with a suction effect and often there are times that it pushes the water out by another 6m.

    Also currently taking place are some structural changes in the gym, one of them is the installation of new wooden flooring.

    As we are a safety conscious resort, we have now covered the entire area of the children´s pool with an anti slip surface.

    Something new in your apartment you will notice on your next visit is the new apartment directory. This gives you ALL the information you need about the resort and other diverse general information.

    Unfortunately our loyal and friendly guard, Pedro, has left us for personal reasons, less hours and an easier lifestyle. His substitute is almost a clone of him, name is Gonzalo.

    Soon you will receive the AGM pack, which includes an Owners Referral Program leaflet .This program has worked brilliantly over the past years at PG. Should you need to receive more information detailing how you too can take part, the contact details are included on the back of it.

    For all you owners that are in a need of a rented car whilst on holiday, don´t forget we have our own rent a car fleet of 20 vehicles with very competitive prices.     Finally, after a few teething obstacles we have finally selected a permanent compere, she is English and her name is Heather. She is very lively and will definitely entertain you!

    Ongoing refurbishments

    We have started and will continue over the next few weeks to replace the new furniture as part of our refurbishing program for 2007 in the following apartments:

    In the bedrooms only:
    B5, B6, B7, 105, 106, 107, 202, 205, 206, 207, 214, 215, 306, 313, 314, 406, 511, 512, 513, 514 & 515.

    In the bedrooms and in the lounge:
    S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S9, S10, B3, B4, 103, 104, 111, 114, 203, 204, 208, 301, 303, 304, 403, 404, 408, 503 & 510.

    In the lounge only:
    S1, S2, S8, S11, S12, S13, S1-1 & S1-2.

    1- We have just installed a decalcifying machine which was long needed. This will have a vast impact on our water cycling system. It prevents lime deposits caused by hard water from harming your appliances. The advantages it will offer you are to remove calcifications from washing machines, dishwashers, coffeemakers, and pots. Very effective for removing persistent calcium deposits on toilets, boilers, wash basins, etc. This will also benefit the water consumption in the pool and give a healthier look to our gardens. You will note more transparent ice blocks in your drinks and clearer tap water.

    2- As from this Friday, 1st June, we will extend our lunch time meals from 15h00-17h00 with a limited menu for all you hungry travellers.

    3- We have put an anti slip surface at the entrance to the kids swimming pool.

    4- Katie, our friendly Polish receptionist will leave us this month. She will be greatly missed by many guests and staff members.

    5- Employee of the month for May was Adriana from the restaurant.

    6- We are proud to announce the PG Owner Loyalty card system: On your next visit to PG your rep will give you (and if not, request it please) a card, resembling a credit card, that enables you to take advantage of all our facilities (restaurant, gym, beauty salon and rent a car) at a discounted rate. There will be Platinum, Gold and Silver cards with discounts applied accordingly.

    Pool Clock
    We had a big c lock installed at the pool area, located at
    the outdoor games area.

    High Tea
    Every Sunday and Tuesday from 16h00-17h00 at the bar we offer you an assortment of fresh homemade cakes and scones, tea and coffee.

    Stair handrail
    As we are very conscious about our guest’s safety, we have installed a handrail at the BBQ area leading up to the upper pool deck.
    Soon we will install an extension of the handrail in the pool whereby our guests can hold on to it from the edge of the pool.

    Giant chess set
    For all you chess lovers, can you now play chess, a garden chess set is available at the lower deck.

    Daytime Entertainment Board
    For all our weekly day time entertainment we have a board displaying all our activities. This is located in the tunnel going down the stairs from the restaurant.

    Guest Questionnaires
    We now have a new format questionnaire placed in your apartments. We would therefore very much appreciate you completing it as your comments and suggestions are most welcome and help us plan for the future.

    Rent a car
    We have some great offers from Pearly Grey rent a car. Serge, our manager for our fleet, will give you the best service.

    DVD
    These are now all placed in the frontline sea view apartments. A catalogue of movie selection is available at reception. We also have some DVD players for our guests to rent if needed, please consult reception for availability.

    Employee of the month
    You will probably notice that we have introduced this system as from January 2007. We reward our staff accordingly. The board with the candidates name and department can be found in the reception area. There will be a big prize at the end of the year for the employee of the year candidate.

    Management Board
    At the reception area you will also find a Management Board indicating various managers’ photos, names and titles. You therefore can put a name to a face when you come on holiday and contact them if needed.

    Evening entertainment Board
    In the bar you will find the evening/weekly entertainment board with all the shows on whilst on holiday.

    TV channels
    With our new satellite dish and new receptor we are able to offer you more TV channels than in the past. English 11 channels, 3 French, 2 Italian, 6 German and 6 Spanish channels.

    Also per the attached photo we have installed railings along the benches on the games area as well as the bowling area. We were concerned about the safety of especially children at these areas.

    The waterproofing and re-tiling of the swimming pool area on the upper deck is finally completed. Also, the bowling green has been soundproofed and has a new carpet.

    DEAR ALL 
    Many of you have already met and seen me at Pearly Grey. For those that are still unfamiliar with me, I would like to introduce myself as Pearly Grey´s new General Manager since November 2006. My objective in this position is to strive for higher standards, making your holiday unforgettable and build up a business relationship with you. I will update you on a monthly basis by a MONTHLY NEWSLETTER with anything pertaining on the resort operations.

    Pool construction works and pool area
    We are coming to an end with the pool construction project. Week 6 will be the last of it. It has been a challenging period, but the end result will definitely be a plus to your resort and investment. Soon I will update you with some photos of the completion. We have in the interim also purchased some side tables that can be placed next to your sun bed for your suntan oils, books and drinks, etc. There was a lack of dustbins at both lower and upper pool deck areas; we have purchased new ones for your usage. Soon to follow: ashtrays.

    TV Satellite
    As you are aware we have experienced ongoing problems especially in the winter season with our TV channels, especially the British ones. The good news is that we are currently installing a new antenna and a new receptor to eliminate this problem.

    DVD players
    Very soon we will introduce DVD players in all our sea view frontline apartments. We will offer DVD movies for rental at reception and at a later stage we want to introduce them into other apartments too.

    Monday sangria meetings
    If a meeting is scheduled to take place during your stay you will be advised by letter with your welcome pack. These informal meetings are an ideal way to discuss any changes or update you on resort news. It is also a good way for me to get to know the owners in a relaxed atmosphere. Sangria is offered free of charge.

    General painting and up keeping of the resort
    The resort obviously needs to be maintained to a high level of standard, therefore we are constantly looking at not only the apartment upkeep, but also the public areas to keep it in a good condition. Our gardens have never looked as good as it is now. Our female gardener Paqui, is doing an excellent job.
