Steve Harding, and his late wife, Violet, originally from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, now living in Amman, Jordan since 2000, have been owners at Pearly Grey since May, 1988. When they first bought, they came several times every year with their young kids. They also used the system to exchange, mainly to visit the USA. Since 1994, they have only been back twice, in 2005 and 2006, and they say it is as good then as it was from the beginning.

In your opinion, what is the best thing about Pearly Grey?
Quiet location, but close enough to get to somewhere if you want, the staff being excellent making sure you get what you want while you’re on vacation, whether it´s peace and quiet, or fun and activity.

Have any of your friends and family joined Pearly Grey as a result of your recommendation? Who?
Yes, my sister-in law, but over 15 friends who I introduced are now proud owners.

What is your best memory from your many visits to Pearly Grey?
Listening to the dolphins in the bay from our balcony, and my last visit in August 2006 with my wife Violet, who sadly passed away in January 2008 after a 7 year battle with cancer; this holiday was very special we had a quiet 1st week, then all the family, son, daughter and brother and his family joined us, so we had a great family break, the 1st and last time all together.

“´Tis better to give than to receive.”

This year, the employees at our restaurant, Razzmatazz, decided that rather than receive the usual Christmas gift basket, they would all put the money that would be used for the baskets towards a gift for the local Rehabilitation House, Amigos de Lourdes. They bought them a TV, and delivered it on Christmas Eve.

As a great incentive to help you start burning off all those mince pies & Christmas puddings, we are pleased to announce that during the whole month of January a 1 DAY PASS (Gym & Spa Area) will only cost you 7€! When not running the resort, some of the Pearly Grey management team have been avidly practicing their barn dancing routine.
I’m sure you will agree that we have a talented troop of performers here at Pearly Grey.

A party was held on Saturday, 13th December, for the children of Pearly Grey Staff members. The children were entertained by a clown, and Ricardo let his hair grow out for this special event (now we understand why he shaves his head!).

First of all, on behalf of all STAFF and management at Pearly Grey, I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2009.

2008 has been a fantastic year for Pearly Grey.

Thank you to all the owners that have repeatedly sent family and friends to enjoy a memorable visit to our resort. Our active Ambassador program has proved to be very successful. We have created an Ambassador Program fan club on Facebook where you, as owners and new owners, can become a fan member. Become a fan of Pearly Grey on Facebook, it’s easy, free and an excellent way of social networking with our owners.

For any of you that have not been on Sandie´s cultural Sunday tour, I strongly recommend it. It´s lots of fun and it also give you an opportunity to explore the island.

We welcome Alain as a new member of our reception team. He is from Belgium, but has lived on the island for 12 years.

You will notice we have a new section, the Pearly Grey Hall of Fame, on our webpage. This is for owners that have been members for at least 20 years. If you would like to be featured, please contact us.

We have installed a remote operated gate and fencing at the entrance of the resort, along the children’s play park.

As we are very health and safety conscious, we have placed flower pots along the restaurant terrace to prevent guests from entering this area from the pool with wet feet.

The management of PG with its developer, James Beckley, just returned from a fantastic teambuilding weekend in the north of the island near Garachico. We all had such a tremendous time at a rural hotel in a banana plantation. It is amazing how you get to know your fellow colleagues out of the work environment, for example:

···Mariana (Administration manager) has an amazing laugh,

···Wendy (Accounts manager) has chocolates hidden under her pillows, ···Adrian (restaurant manager) expert in poker,
···Ricardo (General Manager) loves sleepwalking,
···Gemma (head receptionist) is such a genuine open-minded person and ···Ana (Resort manager) loves to sleep so much

Jose Gordillo - Maintenance

Jose, our resident painter (walls, not portraits!), is easy to spot around the resort because he is the maintenance man who is always dressed in white and smiling (ok, he´s not smiling in this picture, but trust me, it´s a Spanish thing to not smile in pictures…).

Obviously the painting gig is serving Jose well, but in his past life he was a chef! He still enjoys cooking the fish he catches at the beaches at night, one of his favourite hobbies.
